He said in X post, The announcement from the French government regarding the Chevalier award for Thota Tharani, who has gifted us the portrait of Periyar that shines in Oxford, has brought us even greater joy.

"An alumnus of the College of Fine Arts, is being conferred with the prestigious Chevalier award. Congratulations his achievement that the world admires" he added.
