The Lilongwe Senior Resident Magistrate Court has granted bail to eight suspected members of the Zikwanje Gang accused of disrupting peaceful demonstrations by civil servants at the Area 18 Memorial Tower on March 19, 2025.
The suspects, who have denied the charges, were re-arrested last week shortly after being released on bail in three other pending cases.
Resident Magistrate Precious Kondowe granted the accused bail on a bond of K200,000 each, with two new sureties different from those in the other cases each bonded at K2 million.
As part of their bail conditions, the court ordered the suspects to report to Area 30 Police Headquarters every fortnight on Fridays and not to interfere with witnesses.
