AMES, Iowa (KCRG) - In this weeks’ Iowa Board of Regents meeting, University of Iowa Health Care will be seeking approval for millions of dollars in hospital expansions and other projects.
These projects would be bankrolled by UIHC’s earnings.
The North Liberty campus, which opened in April, has seen more patients than expected. The hospital was designed with these inevitable expansions in mind and has built in “shell spaces” for new areas.
North Liberty is asking for approval to use $19 - 25 million to add 16 more operating rooms. There are plans for more expansions in the future, including space for inpatient beds, imaging facilities and staff support areas.
