WORTH COUNTY, Iowa - MercyOne says one of its medical helicopters was involved in a mid-air accident Tuesday evening.

A MercyOne spokesman issued the following statement:

"MercyOne Air Med 3 was involved in a bird strike over Worth County, with no patient on board. The crew quickly made a successful emergency landing. The pilot and crew were unharmed. The helicopter suffered a shattered windscreen."

MercyOne says no other information on the incident will be released Tuesday night.
