SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - Jury selection is scheduled to begin Wednesday in the trial for a man charged in connection with the 2020 murder of an eight-year-old Akron girl.

Robert Scott was indicted on the charges of complicity to commit aggravated murder, complicity to commit murder, and complicity to commit felonious assault.

Mikayla Pickett died after being shot at a birthday party in the 700 block of Roselle Ave. just before midnight on Aug. 15, 2020.

A 14-year-old girl was also shot in the leg at the same party and suffered minor injuries.

Both victims were caught in the crossfire.

Scott, 24, was taken into custody in April 2023.
