STARKVILLE – The Starkville Police Department opened an investigation on Nov. 7 after a video circulated online showing an individual yelling an antisemitic statement and throwing coins toward another person outside a local business.
Over the weekend, a warrant was issued, and on Monday, an arrest was made for disturbing the peace under Mississippi Code §97-35-15.
In a statement on Facebook, Starkville Police Department said every person has the right to feel safe and respected in the community.
“Offensive speech may be protected but actions that risk harm are not,” they said. “When actions cross the line from expression to disruption or that threatens peace and safety we will respond to safeguard those who live, work and visit our community.”
