Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel is grieving the loss of one of his dearest and longest-time friends, Cleto Escobedo III, the bandleader of his show.

Kimmel announced Escobedo's death Tuesday on Instagram , saying "that we are heartbroken is an understatement." Escobedo was 59.
