Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that a solution to the long-pending demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status by 6 communities of the state-Koch Rajbongshi, Moran, Matak, Chutia, Tai Ahom, and Tea Tribes, may be found once the high-powered ministerial committee submits its report in the winter session of the Assam Legislative Assembly on November 25.
The committee is tasked with examining the issue in detail.
“The state’s report on the ST status demand will be available on November 25. I think the report will bring a stable solution to the issue concerning the 6 communities,” the Chief Minister said.
