Schools across Pickaway County came together this week to honor local veterans and active-duty service members through heartfelt tributes, breakfasts, assemblies, and displays of patriotism.
At Teays Valley High School , the front lawn was transformed into a field of American flags through the Vikings for Veterans initiative. The special flag fundraiser allowed families, staff, and community members to sponsor a flag in honor of a veteran or active-duty service member. Dozens of flags now wave in front of the school as a symbol of gratitude and remembrance.
“We’re thankful for everyone who sponsored a flag and helped us recognize the sacrifices of our local heroes,” the district shared.
