In a key development, Neville Tata, son of Noel Tata, has been appointed as a trustee of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, one of the principal Tata Trusts, sources told CNBC-TV18.

The decision was taken at the Tata Trusts Board meeting held on Tuesday, November 11, the first since Mehli Mistry’s removal as a director. Neville Tata currently heads Star Bazaar, the Tata Group’s retail supermarket chain.

Alongside Neville Tata, Bhaskar Bhat has also been inducted into the board of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, sources added.

In another significant move, Tata Trusts has revised the tenure of Venu Srinivasan from a lifetime term to three years, in line with the new Maharashtra government regulation that limits the number of lifetime trustees.
