Casey Prather has limped off with a potentially devastating knee injury as Brisbane coach Stu Lash slammed his side's effort in a calamitous NBL loss to New Zealand.

Already down by 30 points, the Bullets' Gold Coast return became a nightmare when star import Prather landed awkwardly in the final quarter of their 113-84 Ignite Cup defeat on Wednesday.

The three-time NBL title-winner, at 34 in arguably career-best form after nearly two years out of the game with knee injuries, hid his face in his jersey as he limped off while consoled by teammates and staff.

Coach Stu Lash wasn't prepared to estimate the severity of the injury post-game.

"We get around him, we love him and support him and we'll see what the next 24-48 hours bring," Lash said.
