CHARLESTON — The cousin of a prominent Charleston attorney will plead guilty in the lawyer’s January 2023 fatal drug overdose, according to new federal filings.
Federal prosecutors wrote in a pair of Nov. 10 filings that Levi Phillips Miles will plead guilty to a pair of drug-related offenses in 41-year-old David Aylor’s death on Jan. 1, 2023. Miles, in cooperating with prosecutors, could avoid a mandatory minimum prison sentence of 20 years, according to a plea agreement .
Aylor was found dead on Jan. 2, 2023, by his roommate, according to police reports. The roommate had stayed overnight at his girlfriend’s place when Miles, according to police, called him around 10 a.m. asking him to check on Aylor . He found Aylor dead around noon.
