In the recent peace talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Islamabad demanded that a fatwa be issued by the Taliban Amir against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and all wars on Pakistani territory, revealed an Afghan minister on Wednesday. The Taliban team turned down the request, saying its chief wasn't a mufti, and it had a separate department for fatwas. This was one of the reasons why the talks ended without an agreement .
The Taliban's Amir, Hibatullah Akhundzada, is the supreme leader of the organisation and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
Deputy Minister of Interior Rahmatullah Najib, who was also part of the negotiation team, said "the Pakistani side requested the Islamic Emirate issue a fatwa declaring all ongoing wars in Pakistan as unlawful", reported Ariana News
