President Donald Trump has been accused of using Home Depot for ongoing renovations at the White House.

During an interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, Trump showed her the new gold finishes in the White House and said, "You can’t imitate gold…this is not Home Depot stuff."

Despite the president directly saying the gold objects aren’t from Home Depot, and clear differences between ones sold at the home improvement retail chain and the ones in the White House, some social media users continue to maintain that's exactly where they're from.

In response to a request for comment from Newsweek to the criticism, White House spokesperson Davis R. Ingle shared a statement which had previously been given to Newsweek and was included in an earlier version of this article. Ingle said in part
