The New York Giants now have a new coach and a new quarterback.
Jameis Winston, who was previously the third-stringer, is "expected" to start on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. Former backup Russell Wilson will be demoted behind Winston with rookie starter Jaxson Dart likely out due to a concussion.
ESPN's Adam Schefter and Jordan Raanan reported the news Wednesday, two days after the team fired Brian Daboll and named Mike Kafka the interim head coach.
Winston, 31, signed a two-year deal with the Giants in the offseason after spending last year with the Cleveland Browns. He hasn't appeared in a regular season game in 2025, but he has 10 years of experience as the No. 1 overall pick in 2015.
