A savvy couple managed to save £2,000 when buying their first home by asking one simple question.
First-time buyer Becky Chorlton was viewing a property with her boyfriend when she spotted the previous owners' sofas, and instantly took a liking to them.
As she knew the previous owners were moving in with family, the 29-year-old decided to ask what they planned to do with their furniture once they had left.
To Becky's surprise, they told her they were going to throw them out because they were eight years old and “gross”.

Seizing the opportunity, Becky, from Cheshire , offered to buy them – but instead the sellers said the couple could have them for free.
