I’m beginning to no longer understand the value of the Oregon kicker tax rebate, (“ See how big a refund you’ll get from Oregon’s $1.4B kicker next year, ” Nov. 7).
The state is on track to refund some $1.4 billion to taxpayers as a result of the kicker law – even though the Oregon Legislature just passed a transportation bill that will increase costs to taxpayers by $4.3 billion over 10 years.The kicker is a prime example of financial mismanagement by Oregon voters. They have painted themselves into this corner by repeatedly putting things into the Oregon Constitution which should be administrative rules and regulations. They think, “Wow, put it into the Constitution and they can’t take it away from us.”
