JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) - The Consumers Energy Foundation has announced a $250,000 grant to the Food Bank Council of Michigan to fund home delivery of food boxes for households with seniors, children, and people with disabilities.
The grant comes in response to the recent disruption in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits caused by the ongoing federal government shutdown.
According to the foundation, the pause in benefits has left more than 1.6 million Michigan residents without consistent access to essential nutrition.
