In a major administrative reform, the Odisha government on Wednesday granted Tehsildars the authority to amend old registered sale deeds and other related land records. This decision aims to simplify land administration and reduce the need for lengthy appeal processes.

According to official sources, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved the amendment to the Odisha Survey and Settlement Rules, enabling Tehsildars to directly correct errors in old land documents, including valid legal deeds and ownership records.

With this change, individuals seeking corrections in land-related documents will no longer need to approach the Board of Revenue or other revisional courts, as the Tehsildar’s decision will now carry legal weight.
