GRAND RAPIDS, MI — There’s evidence that Santa Claus is comin’ to town in downtown Grand Rapids.

Rockford Construction, the city of Grand Rapids and other partners installed a 37-foot concolor fir Christmas tree at Rosa Parks Circle on Wednesday morning for the holiday season.

The installation process, which involved a crane and boom lift to hoist the 2,200-pound tree into position, began at 5:30 a.m. and concluded around 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 12.

“For the city of Grand Rapids, this officially starts the holiday season,” said Evette Pittman, manager of the city’s office of special events. “We’re hopeful that residents and visitors alike will come out—they will shop, they will eat, and they will enjoy the festivities that we have all season long as we celebrate the holiday together as a comm
