NEW BUFFALO, MI — Remains found along the Lake Michigan shoreline have been identified decades later, the Michigan State Police said.
A woman known for decades as “New Buffalo Jane Doe” has been identified as 71-year-old Dorothy Glanton of Chicago, MSP said on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
Glanton was reported missing after leaving her Chicago home on Dec. 9, 1987, MSP said. The MSP Niles Post, in partnership with the DNA Doe Project, identified the remains.
On April 8, 1988, the remains were recovered along the shoreline of Lake Michigan near New Buffalo, Michigan. Despite extensive investigation at the time, police could not identify her.
