A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a train Tuesday night at the intersection of Main Street and Gloster Street, according to WTVA.

This area is commonly known as Crosstown. The incident happened just after 7:00 p.m.

Tupelo police said the train-versus-pedestrian crash brought traffic to a standstill as officers, firefighters, and an ambulance crew responded.

Fire Chief Brad Robinson told WTVA the pedestrian is alive and listed in critical condition. By about 9 p.m., traffic in the area had resumed normal flow.
