Explore Fairbanks presented a snapshot of 2025 to the Fairbanks City Council on Monday night as part of their annual reporting.
Explore Fairbanks, which markets Fairbanks as a tourism destination on the national and world stage, receives the lion’s share of the city’s bed tax revenue, or about $2.2 million. It also splits any additional bed tax funds to the city above what is collected and distributed under the city’s formula.
Explore Fairbanks President/CEO Scott McCrea said Monday that the tourism dipped a little for Fairbanks this year, but not as much as anticipated.
“By all accounts, we had a great January, and then that’s when we saw the downturn in the industry,” McCrea said.
