A three-alarm fire ravaged a self-storage building in Rochester Hills near John R. and Avon Road, officials said.

The blaze began around 9 p.m. on Tuesday and was extinguished around 3 a.m. Wednesday, said Ann Echols, assistant chief of the Rochester Hills Fire Department and the city's fire marshal.

No one was injured, and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

But the approximately 80 self-storage units in the building were impacted by the fire, Echols said Wednesday morning. The blaze was contained to one of the 12 buildings on the facility.

The fire was difficult for crews to reach, prompting multiple departments to respond, Echols said. "The building was holding a lot of heat, so we weren't able to make an interior attack as much as we
