HARRISBURG — Both chambers of the state General Assembly were in session Wednesday morning as lawmakers began voting on the many legislative parts of a proposed 2025-26 budget deal, with the main $50.09 billion spending bill expected to be put to a vote in the House later in the day.
Among the bills getting action was a measure that would level-fund the University of Pittsburgh, Penn State University and Temple University in 2025-26, and give 5% increases to Pitt’s rural outreach program, Pennsylvania College of Technology and Lincoln University. That bill was approved by the House Appropriations Committee and will next be considered by the full House chamber.
