A 76-year-old driver experiencing a medical emergency was stopped by Calhoun County deputies traveling north in the southbound lanes of I-69 early Wednesday, Nov. 12.
The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office said the driver was reported about 2 a.m. near I-94.
"Deputies in the area quickly located the vehicle near mile marker 40 and attempted to initiate a stop," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "After several unsuccessful attempts, stop sticks were deployed three times, successfully deflating all four tires. With the tires deflated, the vehicle’s speed was reduced to approximately 15 miles per hour. Deputies then safely maneuvered in front of the vehicle and brought it to a stop near mile marker 53 in Eaton County."
The driver was transported to Sparrow Hospital for treatment.
