A Glasgow takeaway and shop have both won permission to open late despite being located in tenements.
The move is contrary to a council tenemental policy that is generally against businesses opening after midnight in case it disturbs people living above premises.
But today (November 12) councillors granted Indian takeaway Lessani Tandoori in the Mount Florida area permission to open until 1am on Friday and Saturday after the manager told them about a “big demand” for the food.
Licensing committee chair Alex Wilson asked why the late hours catering licence was needed.
Pointing out there are four pubs nearby and Hampden stadium, the manager said: “There are so many reasons behind it. It is about serving the community. There is a big demand.”
