Following seven triumphant series portraying DI Jimmy Pérez in the BBC's popular crime drama Shetland , Scottish actor Douglas Henshall departed the programme, stating he "wanted to go out on a high."

Alison O'Donnell, who had portrayed Alison "Tosh" McIntosh alongside Douglas for nearly ten years, decided to remain with the show, embracing his successor Ashley Jensen — though she confessed to harbouring concerns about whether the programme's popularity would endure.
