A primary school in Solihull was placed on lockdown for nearly an hour following reports of a man allegedly chanting about demons. The incident occurred at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Primary School, located on Stratford Road in Shirley, at approximately 3pm on Tuesday, November 11. West Midlands Police responded swiftly to the scene after receiving alerts about the man's suspicious behaviour. According to the school, the individual was spotted in a church car park but did not manage to enter the school premises. In response to the situation, the school implemented its safety protocols, locking down the building for around 45 minutes. Police conducted a thorough search of the area to ensure it was safe before allowing parents to collect their children. No arrests were made, and police have since appealed for any information regarding the incident. A concerned parent recounted the events, stating, "A man tried to access the primary school who was chanting about demons and the children. He tried to access the property via several different ways but ultimately failed. He was confronted by staff and a few parents who were on the grounds." The parent praised the school's response, saying, "The school was excellent in its safety protocols - and it was managed expertly. Sadly if other schools are not as prepared there could have been a different outcome." In a letter sent to parents, the school reassured them, stating, "An intruder was seen on the car park grounds of Our Lady of the Wayside Church. To be clear, this intruder did not access school grounds and no child was under or placed under risk at any time." The school also mentioned that it is reviewing its security measures to enhance safety. A spokesperson for the police confirmed, "We were called to reports of a man acting suspiciously around a school in Stratford Road, Shirley, at around 3pm yesterday. Officers attended and searched the surrounding area but the man had left. The neighbourhood team will be out patrolling the area following concerns raised by the community." Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police via their website or by calling 101, quoting log 3202 of November 11.
