ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A First Coast News investigation has uncovered troubling questions surrounding a Ponte Vedra dental practice and the death of a 44-year-old father during a dental implant procedure. His father has filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Health and is calling for the dentist to lose his license.
Holding his son's ashes, Roy Estes Jr. still can’t believe what happened.
“This is my son. This is my son today. This is my heart and my soul today,” he said.
It was inside a dental office in Ponte Vedra where his son, Roy Estes III, went for dental implants on Oct. 10, 2025.
“They advertise an all-in-one,” said Estes Jr. “He was going to have 23 teeth pulled and 10 implants, and then two full arches on top of the implants.”
