Community organizer Katie Wilson leads Bruce Harrell, Seattle’s incumbent mayor, by 1,346 votes in one of the closest mayoral races in the city’s history. Wilson overtook Harrell in the voting Monday.
She currently has 50.1% of the vote (137,217 votes), compared to Harrell at 49.6% of the vote (135,871 votes), as shown on King County’s website .
Approximately 5,800 ballots were counted Tuesday, leaving around 600 ballots to count, plus any ballots that can still be cured. Roughly 1,700 ballots can be corrected in order to be counted in King County.
“I’m feeling great right now. We’ve increased our lead from yesterday, and we’re actually just under the threshold where we can get out of the automatic recount territory,” Wilson said after seeing Tuesday’s election results. “I think it’s
