TAMPA, Fla. – A collision between a semi-tractor and a bicyclist on US-41 Tuesday evening resulted in the death of the cyclist, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The crash happened at approximately 6:45 p.m. just south of 24th Avenue South.

According to troopers, a Volvo semi-tractor, driven by a 53-year-old Tampa man, was traveling northbound on US-41. At that location, a 49-year-old Brandon man riding a bicycle attempted to cross the highway.

“The bicyclist entered the path of and was struck by the truck,” the FHP report noted.

The bicyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
