NEEDLES — The Needles High School football team continues its quest for a State Championship after a 54-0 win over White Pine High School in its first playoff game on Friday.
“It was a good ball game,” head coach Thomas De Leon said. "We played hard and were firing on all cylinders. We got to get in some of our second stringers because of the effort of the first stringers."
The Mustangs scored eight touchdowns in the game, with seven different players scoring at least one. Robert Tapia opened the scoring with a rushing touchdown and also caught one of Hudson Smith’s two touchdown passes, along with one to Brayden Baca.
JJ Rubalcava returned a fumble for a touchdown, while Dylan Castillo, Jamal Durfer, and Jamal Durfan all had rushing touchdowns.
