SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - There are more than 1,200 flights cancelled and more than 9,800 delayed across the country, according to FlightAware, as the government shutdown continues affecting major airports.
Since last week, when the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ordered flights to be cut, more than 9,000 flights have been cancelled.
It’s a slightly different story locally, as the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport continues getting planes in the sky and passengers to their baggage. The trickle effect from major airports being hit harder than others, like Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, is still felt, however, with one cancellation and two delays as of 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12.
