A 33-year-old man has been arrested in Paisley after an alleged serious sexual assault.

He was detained by police after an incident at a property on West Brae on Thursday, November 6.

The man was expected to make an appearance at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday, the Paisley Daily Express reports.

Much of the street and the property was cordoned off by police on Friday as detectives and forensic officers investigated the alleged attack.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 33-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a report of serious sexual assault on a female within a property in West Brae, Paisley on Thursday, November 6.

“He was due to appear at Paisley Sheriff court on Monday.”
