The Tiverton Tigers girls’ soccer team won their second Division 4 Championship in as many years Saturday night, beating Lincoln School 2-1 at Rhode Island College to finish their season with a 15-3-1 record.
“They gave it everything they had,” Tigers head coach Jim Gauch said. “This is such a great group of girls. It is what they were practicing for all year — hoping to repeat. Even though some of them had played in the finals last year, nerves were still on everyone’s mind before the game.”
The Tiverton offense scored 91 goals this season and began the game in a similarly aggressive fashion, as Junior forward Tori Murray scored three minutes after the start, kicking the ball into the goal after a Tigers’ corner kick.
“Scoring early set the tone of the game,”
