According to The Baltimore Sun’s Nov. 5 story (“ Ocean City finds itself on an island in offshore wind fight “), “Ocean City officials argue the vibrations alone from the pile driving necessary to install 114 turbines and 4 platforms as close as 10.9 miles off the coast would drive away visitors.” Well, not as much as a direct hit from a Category 5 hurricane made more likely by global warming.
The president has proposed opening up coastal waters to offshore oil drilling. Does Ocean City believe tourists want to look at drilling rigs or stroll their oil-soaked beaches? Republican senators in Florida and South Carolina have immediately come out against the plan.
