DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - A sheriff’s deputy was killed in a crash early Wednesday morning in central Indiana.
According to our sister station WTHR , Cpl. Blake Reynolds was helping a stranded semi driver on I-69 in Delaware County when his patrol car was hit by another semi. He was taken to a hospital in Muncie, where he later died.
Investigators say the stranded semi was partially in the road, and Cpl. Reynolds stopped behind it to provide protection. While he was outside his vehicle, the other semi reportedly lost control and hit the deputy’s car and the disabled semi.
Police say Cpl. Reynolds was standing outside of his patrol car at the time and was hit by the impact.
“Despite immediate emergency response efforts, the deputy did not survive his injuries,” the Delaware Count
