Marvin Harrison Jr. has been catching touchdowns. Now he's catching an unwanted vacation.

The Arizona Cardinals second-year receiver hasn't been the instant star that many envisioned, but his stock has been rising in recent weeks. It all started with the insertion of Jacoby Brissett into the starting lineup, replacing an injured Kyler Murray.

Harrison broke out on "Monday Night Football" in Week 9, recording arguably his best game as a pro. The receiver hauled in seven catches for 96 yards and a touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys.

However, his progress is now set to be slowed and it's not because of anything that happened on the football field.

Marvin Harrison Jr. injury update

Harrison underwent surgery for appendicitis and is out for Week 11, head coach Jonathan Gannon announced on Nov. 12.

The receiver could miss additional weeks as he recovers from the surgery, leaving the timetable for his return uncertain moving forward.

Gannon was asked about Harrison's status and whether it would keep him out for more than one week.

"We'll see," Gannon told reporters on Nov. 12.

Arizona is slated to play the rival San Francisco 49ers in Week 11 and already had their bye in Week 8. The Cardinals aren't in a playoff race at 3-6, so there is even less incentive to rush him back.

The Cardinals' depth in the receiver room has been put to the test lately. Zay Jones suffered an Achilles injury in Week 11 and will be placed on injured reserve.

Simi Fehoko also fell victim to injury during the team's loss to the Seahawks, which will force him to miss time as well. With Harrison being ruled out, the Cardinals are down to three healthy receivers for their upcoming contest.
