CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) - Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a wrong-way driver on I-69 early Wednesday morning and discovered the driver was experiencing a medical emergency.
Deputies were called around 2:00 a.m. after several reports of a vehicle heading north in the southbound lanes near I-94.
They found the car near mile marker 40 and tried several times to pull it over.
When the driver didn’t stop, deputies used stop sticks three times, successfully deflating all four tires.
The vehicle then slowed to about 15 miles per hour, and deputies safely brought it to a stop near mile marker 35 in Eaton County.
Deputies learned the driver, a 76-year-old, was experiencing a medical emergency and had become disoriented.
The driver was taken to Sparrow Hospital for treatment. It
