Cal State Fullerton soccer player Lauren Turner died on Nov. 7 following a nearly six-week stay in the ICU, the school announced on Monday. Turner, a sophomore, was 19.

Turner and her teammate Ashlyn Gwynn were riding electronic scooters on Sept. 27 when they were struck by a box truck.

Per the Los Angeles Times, neither player was wearing a helmet, and drugs or alcohol were not believed to be a factor in the accident.

Gwynn spent one month in the ICU and was recently moved to the "step down" unit, per her GoFundMe page.

“Lauren was the funniest, most charismatic, and loving teammate you could ever ask for,” Turner’s teammates from the 2025 roster said in a statement.

“She was the first to celebrate other people’s wins. She is the true definition of an amazing person. She always carried herself with compassion, kindness, and happiness. The impact she made on the Titans women’s soccer program is immeasurable.

“She will be dearly missed by everyone but forever remembered by her Titan family. We love you Lauren, our No. 5 Forever.”

Turner, a native of Tustin, Calif., made 30 total appearances for the Titans over her two seasons with the program, playing a variety of positions.

A candlelight vigil in Turner’s memory will be held at Cal State Fullerton’s Titan Stadium field at 5:30 p.m. local time on Wednesday.
