PIERRE, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Attorney General Marty Jackley congratulated the 45 students who are graduating this Friday from the state Basic Law Enforcement Certification Course in Pierre.
“The Basic Law Enforcement Certification Course is a rigorous 13-week training where students are challenged in different areas of law enforcement,” said Attorney General Jackley.
The recruits come from 31 various state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies.
Completing the certification course is necessary for students to achieve full qualification as law enforcement officers in South Dakota.
To get certified, recruits have to complete 520 hours of coursework, covering law, arrest control, firearms, vehicle handling, and criminal investigations.
The training is provided by full-time staff
