PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Atlantic Shark Institute has announced a significant milestone, the tagging of its 50th great white shark.
ASI Executive Director Jon Dodd said that their study of the great white began in Rhode Island in Massachusetts because of a lack of data on the animals in the region’s waters.
The white shark most recently tagged was a juvenile, as are the majority of the ASI’s study subjects.
The data collected from the taggings will help the ASI understand where the juveniles spend their time, and how their health is progressing.
