SIOUX COUNTY, I.A. (Dakota News Now) - Sioux County Sheriff Jamie Van Voorst has announced his retirement at the end of this year, completing a 33-year career in law enforcement.
Van Voorst’s last day at the Sioux County Sheriff’s department will be on Dec. 31, 2025, he announced in a statement.
“Serving as your Sheriff has been one of the greatest honors of my life—an opportunity that, not so long ago, I never could have imagined." Van Voorst said.
Van Voorst called his decision to retire “not an easy one”, citing a desire to be closer to his wife, children, and grandchildren.
