Standing along Mill Avenue with American flags and smiles were dozens of Tempe residents on the morning of Nov. 11. The city’s annual Veterans Day Parade and festival brought smiles and cheers to downtown Tempe.
Stretching from Arizona State University’s Gammage Theater down to Tempe Beach Park were veterans and their families, Tempe city officials, scouts and more to honor those who have fought for the nation and those who continue to serve around the world.
John Dixon is a Vietnam War veteran who served in Quan Loi and around Vietnam for three years after graduating from Tempe High School in 1964. After he returned to the United States, he graduated from ASU using his GI benefits and settled with his wife in Tempe.
