A presentation for a possible tax freeze for seniors is on the agenda for this week's Hamilton County Commission meeting.

The resolution is based on an optional Tennessee law, the Tax Freeze Act from 2007 , that freezes property tax rates at the current rate for seniors over 65 if implemented. Download PDF

The law gives commissioners the option to adopt an income cutoff for residents who make more than $60,000 each year.

A vote will not be held on the measure during this week’s meeting.

The commission is also considering a contract to improve The Howard School's indoor sports facility that is used by teams for practice.

The proposal would include HVAC, theater, and fencing improvements at the school.
