Sophie Winkleman isn’t writing any love letters about regal fame.
After all, The Palace actor—who became part of the royal family after tying the knot with Queen Elizabeth II ’s first cousin one removed, Lord Frederick Windsor , in 2009—candidly shared what it’s been like to see her relatives navigate their lives in the spotlight.
“The more I get to know the royal family, the more I get that their lives are total hell,” Sophie, 45, told The Times in an interview published Nov. 12, “and that level of unasked-for fame is a form of torture. None of them went on Pop Idol or something to be famous.”
