One of the biggest dance tracks of all time was released on November 13, 2000, but the man whose song was the basis of the track did not get any money from it.

Daft Punk's One More Time was a massive hit around the world, including in Australia.

The music on the track was sampled from a disco song from 1979, More Spell on You by Eddie Johns.

Daft Punk, a French electronic music duo, lifted three chords from the song and pieced them together to make a new tune.

With those three chords, played on a fuzzy horn section, the entire song was assembled.

A new vocal melody was sung over the top by US singer Romanthony.

Despite selling more than a million copies and a dancefloor staple ever since, Johns did not get a penny in royalties.
