A man was shot after his dog jumped onto a bed and accidentally caused a gun to fire inside a Pennsylvania home, police said.

According to the Shillington Police Department, officers were called to a residence on the 300 block of State Street around 11:13 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, after receiving reports of a shooting.

When officers got to the scene, police said, they found that a 53-year-old man had suffered a gunshot wound to his back. He was on the floor but conscious.

Officers rendered aid for the man until EMS arrived and took over, according to police. The man was taken to the hospital and immediately underwent surgery for his injuries. A dog sparked a fire inside a North Carolina home after chewing a device containing a lithium-ion battery, WRAL’s Heidi Kirk reports.
