Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill is among the lawmakers that have been ordered back to Washington, D.C. as the House of the Representatives reconvenes Nov. 12 to take the next step toward reopening the government.
On Nov. 10, the Senate passed a measure to approve government funding for most agencies through Jan. 30.
Eight Democrats ultimately voted in favor of the measure, which failed to reach the 60 necessary votes for seven weeks prior. During that time, Democratic senators held off, as the bill did not address multiple health care concerns.
Now, the bill is in the hands of the House, which is set to vote Nov. 12. If the bill receives the necessary votes, it will move to the desk of President Donald Trump for his signature.
